This inspiring and action-packed week kept us talking about future strategies and the things that inspire us. Jessica and I sat down to talk about the content from ATD Virtual Day 4 and it turns out there was a lot to say. I talk about my admiration for Cara North's session on assessment questions and deductive reasoning, Jessica raves about Carla Torgerson's microlearning session, and we both get hyped about Ben Nemtin's closing keynote.

  Technically this is our videocast about ATD Virtual Day 4, but more realistically this could be described as us geeking out about the content from Day 3. Special thanks to Rance Greene and Hadiya Nuriddin for sparking our imaginations and creativity about stories and storytelling!

When my birthday rolls around each year, I like to think about what I was like 10 years earlier. Who was I then? How did I approach the world? This year was interesting because I turned 33, and it was the very first time I was able to examine this in a purely professional context. Here are three observations about my professional life at 23 that made me laugh.   My work cubicle was covered in inappropriate quotes that I printed off and tacked to the walls. I didn't start bringing in personal effects to the office until sometime in my late twenties, so that was the extent of my personality. In hindsight, it's probably a good thing people didn't often stop to read them.   I listened to a lot of Panic! at the Disco and Fallout Boy . If it had a thumping beat and angst-filled lyrics, I was blasting it through my headphones loud enough to annoy my (very patient) officemates. It's a wonder I can still hear anything.   I was very excited about free office coffe...

It's lovely to do Learning and Development with other people, isn't it? I sure think so. I like asking other people for their input and peeking under the hood of their designs. I always learn something and I'm often inspired for my own projects. The question came up recently about whether working with a concise group of learning designers and developers leads to too much similarity, and my answer is, "No! Never!" We may be similar, but we don't think alike. Even with the same tools and similar expertise, how we think and work is based on factors far more important.
